I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial team whose thoughtful contributions and dedicated efforts have made this issue of the Journal of Design Thinking possible. Volume 7, Issue 1 (June 2026) brings together twelve contributions addressing diverse areas of contemporary design research, including adaptive customization, design education, sustainable and climate-responsive design, industrial design, disaster preparedness, co-creative design, cultural heritage, digital nudging, and architectural design. Collectively, these studies demonstrate the expanding scope of design thinking and its relevance to complex contemporary challenges. Beyond viewing design thinking simply as a problem-solving process, the contributions highlight the importance of context, culture, values, interdisciplinary dialogue, and diverse forms of knowledge in shaping meaningful design outcomes. The international and multidisciplinary perspectives represented in this issue further reinforce the importance of exchanging ideas across geographical and intellectual boundaries. Through this collection, JDT seeks to contribute to an evolving understanding of design thinking as a reflective and context-sensitive approach that not only addresses problems, but also questions assumptions, recognizes relationships, and creates meaningful change.
